Because jack of all trades designer Philippe Starck has designed the interiors of a few hotels already, it is not strange that he announces a partnership to create 35 hotels under his own label, Starck International Hotels and Resorts.

Dutch Design (4): More news from the College Hotel
Opening of the Amsterdam College Hotel is now scheduled for March 1, 2005.
Dutch Design (3): Lute Suites to open 13nd January, 2005
After Haagsche Suites (Suites of The Hague) that opened 29th September 2002 and after Maison le Dragon in Bruges, we now see a new Dutch small all suite hotel initiative in Ouderkerk a/d Amstel, just outside of Amsterdam. Ouderkerk is boarding on the small Amstel river from which Amsterdam derived its name: The Dam in the Amstel.
Lute Suites is developed by Peter Lute, from Restaurant and Marcel Wanders of Marcel Wanders Studio
Seven picturesque small houses for rent as suites with or without breakfast, with or without personal shopper, with or without dinner in either the restaurant or served in your suite. No lobby, but a mini reception desk, because it is not supposed to be a hotel. More suites to follow in Amsterdam.
I like the idea and the design, but not the Lute website design, because of its cumbersome accessibility.
Update: Discovered the term Notel, created the Notel category and added this post to it.

Bruge, Belgium: Maison le Dragon
Recently we stayed in this new exclusive private guesthouse.
Emanuel Vanhaecke, a brother of the hostess of the Small Luxury Pandhotel in Bruge is the host of Maison le Dragon. It has three suites and, with a garden in between, it is located back to back with the Pandhotel on short walkting distance of The Markt (market), the centre of this well kept medieval city with a nice array of shops and cultural sightseeing opportunities. One of the suites has its own terrace with Bear Chairs and all three suites are roomy and very well appointed by by Emanuel’s mother. Each suite has a bath and seperate shower stall.
Starting a new venture like this makes you forget some things easily. When a famous Dutch football (soccer for the Americans amongst you) player stayed with him, Emanuel realised he had forgotten a proper guestbook. He run away to fetch a guestbook. Now the photo of this famous guest together with a nice review are on the first page of his guestbook.
Dutch Design (1): Hotel Arena, Amsterdam
Hotel Arena in Amsterdam has reopened after a renovation. It changed from a Stay Okay into a designhotel. It added 6 designer suites and modern design furniture from Dutch designers as Piet Hein Eek, Marcel Wanders, Ineke Hans and Marleen Kaptein.
