I discovered the site of Florentijn Hofman, a Dutch designer specializing in great outdoor installations. This Fat Monkey was created out of flipflops at the occasion of the Sao Paulo Pixel Show. Would you believe the ordinary flipflop could be the source (pixel) of such installation?

I’m not so much a TV, Film or Video viewer myself, but the Dutch premiere of the bespoke film The Tourist gives me an excuse to post this interview with the main characters Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp in Paris.
Long Live The Queen!
Yesterday our Queen Beatrix celebrated her birthday. Painful that I forgot to post this yesterday, especially since I had made a couple of my own portraits of her last year. She has a beautiful smile! Hasn’t she? A belated happy birthday to the Majesty!

Bolton Percy Gatehouse – Mud Hotels / Vacation Homes 2
I’ve applied cob (or clay or adobe) walls in my own hotel. Their advantage is that they excellently go together with wall heating. From that stems my interest in cob as a building material. 2/3 of the world population lives in cob. I started this series long ago with this post. I’ve now found a luxury cob vacation home in the UK, Bolton Percy Gatehouse, managed by the Vivat Trust. Worthwhile a visit so to see.
Breaking News: Trainwagons on Fire in Zwijdrecht
Nice footage from Dutch Television NOS of a not so nice accident. In Zwijndrecht, a little town south of Rotterdam, where I have lived quite some time, there is a big fire of presently 2 wagons filled with ethanol (a sort of alcohol). At the Kijfhoek emplacement, the location of the fire, there are hundreds of other wagons stationed around the two burning wagons that may contain serious hazardous chemicals. This happens within a week of another huge chemical packing company fire a couple of miles south at Moerdijk.
Am glad I’m living in The Hague now and that I’m not down wind from the fire which is approx 40 miles from where I live.
